MP Weather Update (30 October 2025): The weather in Madhya Pradesh has once again taken a dramatic turn as the remnants of Cyclone Montha continue to influence several regions across the state. Although the cyclone has weakened after making landfall, its impact is still visible in the form of cloudy skies, rainfall, and gusty winds across multiple districts.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow alert has been issued for 11 districts, warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the next few days. These include Sheopur, Morena, Burhanpur, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Dindori, and Anuppur. The department has also predicted a noticeable drop in temperature due to continuous rain and strong winds.
Cyclone Montha’s Impact Reaches Madhya PradeshThe IMD has reported that the current weather changes are a result of multiple interacting systems — an active depression over the Arabian Sea, a trough line passing over central India, and a cyclonic circulation over northern Madhya Pradesh. The combined effect of these phenomena has triggered widespread rainfall and changing wind patterns in the region.
Montha Weakens but Continues to Affect Several StatesCyclone Montha, which made landfall near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh on 28 October, has now weakened into a depression. Despite its reduced intensity, the system is moving northwestward, bringing moderate to heavy rain to Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and eastern Madhya Pradesh.
Meteorologists suggest that while the cyclone has lost its severe characteristics, its remnants continue to generate unstable atmospheric conditions, leading to persistent rainfall and thunderstorm activity.
Rain and Winds Expected Across Several RegionsAccording to IMD Bhopal, many areas in the state will experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds. Cities like Bhopal and Indore may also witness dusty winds and scattered showers throughout the day. The continuous rainfall has already led to a drop in day and night temperatures, providing relief from the recent spell of humidity.
Temperature Drop and Rainfall Trend- Maximum Temperature: Likely to stay between 25°C and 28°C in most regions
- Minimum Temperature: May fall to 18°C or below in some districts
- Wind Speed: Expected between 25–35 km/h, with occasional gusts stronger in open areas
- Rainfall Intensity: Light to moderate across central MP; heavy showers likely in southern and eastern districts
The IMD also stated that rain activity is expected to continue for the next 72 hours, with thunderstorms and lightning in isolated regions. People are advised to stay indoors during heavy rain and avoid waterlogged areas.
Precautions and Safety Advisory- Avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorm alerts.
- Farmers are advised to delay harvesting of standing crops until the weather stabilizes.
- Keep electronic devices and valuables safe from moisture and power fluctuations.
- Residents in hilly or low-lying areas should stay alert for water accumulation or minor flooding.
As Cyclone Montha’s remnants move further northwest, its influence is likely to weaken gradually by the weekend. However, isolated rainfall and cloudy conditions will continue to dominate most parts of Madhya Pradesh until early next week.
IMD’s forecast indicates that clearer skies and cooler weather are expected by the first week of November, marking the official onset of the post-monsoon transition into winter across central India.
In summary: Madhya Pradesh remains under the lingering influence of Cyclone Montha, with heavy rain alerts in several districts. The IMD urges residents to stay updated on local weather bulletins and exercise caution, especially in storm-prone or low-lying areas.
